EXPERIENCE 28TH HIGH WYCOMBE SCOUTS

Placing Youth on the Path to Success

At 28th High Wycombe, we are strong believers in the ability of our youth to succeed. Our programs and activities are designed to help our youth reach their goals and fulfill their highest potential. We are proud of all our children and love watching them grow into bright-minded and confident individuals. See how we’re involved in making a difference in our children’s lives.

If you are committed (100% attendance expected, we normally meet on Friday evenings following Buckinghamshire school term dates) and want to go onto the waiting list, please fill in the form below, and our Membership Secretary will get in touch when a space becomes available.

We are always looking for adult helpers.  They can range from being an occasional parent helper through to being a committee member or Uniformed leader.    Committee members or Uniformed leaders can jump waiting lists as detailed below.

Waiting List Policy

Places within Cubs and Scouts will be allocated in the following priority order:

  1. Children moving up in the Group’s sections (e.g. from cubs to scouts)

  2. The children or grandchildren of leaders and full-time helpers

  3. Children living within the town of High Wycombe

Within these groups, priority will be allocated to those children who have been on the waiting list the longest.

The earliest ages that names can be registered on the waiting list are as follows:

  • Squirrels - No imminent plans to start section, so NOT taking registrations

  • Beavers – we do not have a beaver colony yet. Why don't you volunteer now and help us set it up?

  • Cubs – register from when your child turns five years old

  • Scouts – register from when your child turns eight years old

  • Explorers - typically Explorers move up from the Scouts section. If your child is 14 years old and never attended Scouts or wants to reconnect, please come and speak to us.

  • Network - If you're over 18 and want to get involved with our group, please come to any of our section meetings and we'll see how we can add mutual value.

  • Volunteer - Explorers, Network and older community members head over to our Volunteer section and complete the details to tell us more about yourself

Important Notes:

  • Being on the waiting list doesn’t guarantee you a place in Scouting.

  • The admissions volunteers review all the registrants towards the end of August every year.  They will make contact with you, as and when your child becomes eligible for a space.

  • In line with GDPR these details will be held on a secure 3rd party website which is accessible by relevant adult Volunteers in the Group.

  • Information will be held until you request us to remove it.

  • Your consent is assumed when you complete the Registration Form.

  • It is the parent's responsibility to inform us, if any of your details change.
